WARWICK, RI -- Rhode Island's next generation of hospitality leaders faced off in Newport on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 and Warwick found itself ending the day with award-winning participants from its Baking and Culinary Arts Program! Warwick was regarded as having a "clean sweep" when it came to the 2 competitions.
Congratulations to the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center (WACTC) for winning two gold medals in the RI High School Culinary Arts, Food Service, and and Hotel Management Competition. Students participating in the state competition were enrolled in the ProStart program, putting their skills to the test in front of industry professionals, while competing for a variety of awards and industry-defining exposure.
Warwick students will now go on to represent Rhode Island at the National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland later this Spring - earning them continued national recognition and opportunities for further growth and exposure. Congratulations to Chef Eva Niosi, Chef Austin Irons, and culinary students from the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center on this amazing accomplishment!
